SkillBuild Competition
Lewisham College recently hosted the SkillBuild competition at its construction campus in Deptford Bridge on Thursday 23rd May.
SkillBuild is the UK's premier multi-trade competition for construction apprentices and learners. The competition features a variety of categories including Bricklaying, Carpentry, Furniture and Cabinet Making, Joinery, Painting and Decorating, Plastering, Drylining, Roof Slating and Tiling, Stonemasonry, and Wall and Floor Tiling. Competitors take part in the SkillBuild Regional Qualifiers held across the UK from April to June annually. During these one-day events, participants will showcase their skills by completing tasks relevant to their specific trade. The top eight highest-scoring competitors in each skill category will then advance to the SkillBuild National Final.
I had the incredible opportunity to be part of the question time on Employability and as a panelist, I shared my insights on employability skills, crafting an impressive CV, and mastering the art of interviews. During my visit, I also had the chance to explore the college and witness the remarkable talent of the students. Their passion and dedication to their chosen trade were truly inspiring, as they eagerly participated in this regional competition.
To express your interest in participating in next year's competition, sign up here and you will be notified when registration opens for next year.
Results from the Regional Qualifiers will be posted on the leaderboard within 48 hours of the competition's conclusion. Once all Regional Qualifiers are completed, the top eight competitors in each category nationwide will be announced, earning their spot in the prestigious SkillBuild National Final.
