About the Role
Required: Mechanical &/or Electrical Quantity Surveyor (Junior -> Intermediate)
Office Location: Gloucestershire
Employment status: Permanent
Salary: up to £45k
Sector: Commercial small works & major projects (project values can range from £10k - £4m)
Holidays: 25 days (+ Bank Hols)
Office Hours: 8am till 5pm (1 hour lunch)
Role Summary
To ensure the successful financial completion of MEP projects, protecting the exposure of the Company to financial risks, together with adherence to the commercial procedures of the Business. Responsible for the commercial management of a number of projects
What you will be doing
* Co-ordinating with, reporting to and implementing the reasonable directives of the Directors/Operation Managers (functional reporting).
* Ensuring the timely submission of all relevant data required to monitor and analyse individual contract performance on a monthly basis thereafter.
* Liaising with Contracts/Project Managers on the day-to-day commercial administration of contracts to ensure the financial success of MEP operations and to keep management appraised of all material events.
* Preparing accurate draft sub-contracts.
* Ensuring consultation with contracts management that all necessary notices and submissions required by the various forms of contract are given in an expedient manner.
* Ensuring that main contract payment applications contain all necessary admeasure/additional cost claims and that the timely submission of detailed claims and final accounts is achieved.
* Assisting Contracts Manager in the administration of sub-contractor performance so as to ensure the economic and timely completion of all sub-contractor liabilities written into the sub-contract.
* Ensuring prompt and regular submission of main contract payment applications and subsequent cash collection together with the preparation of sub-contractor payments (strictly in accordance with specified payment terms).
* Involvement in dispute avoidance/resolution.
* Responsible for managing meetings.
* Line management responsibility for members of the commercial team.
What we will need from you
* An understanding of construction industry and the parties to it.
* Knowledge of measurement and valuation.
* Good knowledge of standard forms of contract.
* An understanding of reading drawings, specifications and knowledge of construction and MEP process.
* Ideally the ability to negotiate with clients/sub-contractors and draft sub contracts.
* Knowledge of CIS.
* Ability to produce accurate monthly cost and value reports and outturn financial forecasts.
* Ability to work in a team environment.
* Ability to work to business deadlines.
* Display excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Display problem solving skills/abilities.
* Awareness of dispute resolution procedures.
